Ultra Wideband Chip

Focus Enhancements announces an 880 Mb/s wireless Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip. The initial tape-out of its analog/RF chip is the first of its two-part chipset solution. The analog chip will operate between 3.2 and 7.2 GHz and is expected to provide transmission rates up to 880 Mb/s at ranges up to 8 meters and 37 Mb/s at a range of 40 meters. The extended-mode Focus Enhancements solution utilizes a Direct Sequence-OFDM modulation scheme (DS-OFDMTM) to achieve impressive data rates and ranges. Other selectable rate settings include: 110 Mb/s at 30 meters and 440 Mb/s at 14 meters.
