SST Communications announces a Bluetooth power amplifier that increases transmission range with lower power consumption than current competitive solutions. Targeting Bluetooth Class 1 applications the SST12LP00 increases transmission range by 40% with less than 100 mA in current consumption. The device is a high-gain, high-efficiency InGaP/GaAs power amplifier with high linear output power. It features a minimum 29 dB gain across 2.4 to 2.5 GHz and linear output power up to 21 dBm at 3.3 V operation. Other key features include: low current consumption of < 90 mA at 21 dBm output power; low quiescent current of Icq < 15 mA when there is no input power; and on-chip shutdown controlled directly by logic signal from the baseband MAC.
