ICs Manage Power Digitally

Fairchild Semiconductor’s FD2004, FD2004-01 and FD2006 digital power controllers and FD1505 digital power support driver use Fairchild-Zilker’s Digital-DC architecture to manage power digitally. The 5 mm² 32-lead or 6 mm² 36-lead QFN-packaged controllers offer an input voltage range from 3 V to 14 V to control output voltages from 0.54 to 5.50 V, alone or connect in parallel use, on-board I²C/SMBus-compliant serial ports and PMBus command set support. The FD2006 integrates a controller and 3 A MOSFET drivers to support 40 A loads without an external driver, the FD2004 interfaces with external driver/MOSFET ICs and power train modules, and the FD2004-01 exhibits ±0.20% DC output voltage setpoint accuracy. The N-Channel synchronous-buck MOSFET FD1505 employs dual PWM inputs, combines 5 A/-4 A low-side drive with ±3 A high-side drive and up to 7.50 V gate drive supply input, and includes an adjustable gate drive current.
