High-frequency Boost Converter

Fairchild Semiconductor introduces the FAN5336 high-frequency integrated boost converter, which allows designers to achieve an 87% system efficiency, low EMI and board space savings in a wide range of small LCD bias supply and white LED backlight designs. This 1.5 MHz switching boost converter features a wide output-voltage range (9 to 33 V) and integrates a switching NFET into an ultra-thin-profile, molded leadless package (UMLP) that measures 3 × 3 × 0.6 mm. Smaller than SOT-packaged devices typically used in these applications, the FAN5336 offers more functionality including higher peak current (1.5 A) than similar 1.0 A devices, as well as good line and load regulation (0.2%) and high switching frequency (1.5 MHz). As a result, the FAN5336 helps to minimize noise, heat generation and emissions in cell and smart phones, MP3 players, medical devices and many other portable applications.
