Maxim Integrated Products' MAX2557/MAX2597 WCDMA Band II and Band V femto base-station transceiver chipset includes a digital interface for the North American UMTS market. The MAX-PHY™ interface is said to eliminate the need for a mixed-signal analog front-end. The 48-pin fcLGA-packaged receiver (MAX2557) has 4 low-noise amplifier (LNA) inputs to allow monitoring of WCDMA and GSM macro-network signals. The 64-pin fcLGA-packaged transmitter (MAX2599) integrates power amplifiers. The components operate over an industrial temperature range from -40°C to 85°C.
