Clock Generators Provide High-Frequency Timing Solutions
Maxim Integrated Products introduces its MAX3624/MAX3625 high-performance, quad-/triple-output clock generators for network equipment. These devices use a low-noise VCO and PLL architecture to generate a high-frequency, ultra-low-jitter (0.36 psRMS) clock signal from a low-frequency crystal resonator or reference clock input. They require only an external, packaged, AT-cut fundamental crystal. Reducing the space and cost of the total clock-distribution solution, these devices are suitable for applications such as Ethernet switch routers, storage-area network switches, wireless base-station channel cards, and server clock generation and distribution. The MAX3625 provides three outputs from two programmable output divider banks: one bank provides two LVPECL outputs up to 320MHz, and the other bank provides one LVPECL output up to 320 MHz.
