Maxim Integrated Products introduces the DS3605 I2C-compatible, secure, nonvolatile (NV) SRAM controller with tamper detection. Designed for applications in which the security of encryption keys is critical, this NV SRAM controller allows users to specify their own external SRAM. When a tamper event occurs, the DS3605 quickly erases the encryption keys on this external SRAM. To further enhance security, this device integrates a real-time clock (RTC), battery-backup controller, system power monitor, CPU supervisor, temperature sensor, and four uncommitted tamper-detection comparator inputs. The high integration and advanced security features of the DS3605 make it suited for secure-transaction terminals and other security-sensitive applications. Packaged in a lead-free, 5 mm × 5 mm, 25-ball CSBGA for added security, the DS3605 is fully specified over the 㫀°C to +85°C extended temperature range.
