Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX5128, a 128-tap, nonvolatile digital potentiometer. The MAX5128's 2 × 2 mm microDFN package, 1 mA (maximum) standby supply current, simple two-wire, up/down interface, and +2.7 to +5.5 V single supply make this device suitable for portable battery-powered electronics. The up/down serial interface controls the wiper position and programs the nonvolatile memory that stores the wiper position, thus enabling the MAX5128 to power up to a predefined state. The MAX5128 offers ratio-metric and end-to-end temperature coefficients as low as 5 ppm/° C and 75 ppm/° C, respectively. The MAX5128 is available with an end-to-end resistance of 20 kΩ.
