MAC Software

Chipcon announces the availability of IEEE 802.15.4 compliant MAC software for their products. The software is available free of charge under a licensee agreement and gives customers a head start in their ZigBee and IEEE 802.15.4 compliant product developments. The IEEE 802.15.4 MAC sub-layer implementation is running on the CC2420DBK hardware platform, which includes an Atmel AVRmega microcontroller. As the software is written in C it can easily be ported to other platforms. The MAC sub-layer software may be configured for different user needs and applications such as a high-throughput router node or a low power sensor node. The software includes functions such as collision avoidance (CSMA-CA), beaconing, association, scanning, access control, AES encryption and authentication. Together these functions provide the user with a highly reliable link between two or more MAC entities.
