CCFL Backlight Inverter Drive ICs for LCD Backlight Systems

Fairchild Semiconductor introduces its FAN7316 and FAN7317 integrated CCFL backlight inverter drive ICs that provide space and cost savings, optimal system reliability and simplified design for N-N half-bridge, push-pull and P-N full-bridge LCD backlight inverter designs. The ICs feature a wide input voltage range, built-in open lamp protection and an open lamp regulation circuit that eliminates up to 30 external components in four lamp circuit inverter designs compared to similar devices. They also feature selectable dimming polarity and analog and burst dimming functions which simplify design. The ICs are available in a 20-pin SOIC lead-free package that meets or exceeds the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020C.
