Fairchild releases the RMPA0965, an RF power amplifier for CDMA2000-1X applications in the 824 to 849 MHz frequency band. The amplifier's single positive-supply operation, low power, and shutdown modes provide 40% CDMA mode efficiency at +28 dBm average output power. When used in CDMA cell phone applications, the device's high/low power modes optimize battery talk-time and reduce current consumption during peak phone usage. The two-stage power amplifier is matched to 50Ω on both the input and output. This matching minimizes the need for external components, thereby reducing Bill of Material (BOM) part count and simplifying designs. The power-added efficiency (PAE) and linearity of this product are achieved using the company's proprietary InGaP Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) process.
