Frequency Hopping Wireless OEM Modules

Cirronet™ announced the WIT2410, the latest in its line of frequency hopping spread spectrum wireless modems for use in the 2.4 GHz band. The device offers lower cost as well as significant enhancements over its WIT2400 predecessor, including seamless roaming capabilities and a doubled air data rate of 460 kbps.

The WIT2410 is also much smaller, with dimensions smaller than a business card and a thickness of 9 mm. Operating at 3.3 volts and low power consumption make it ideal for battery operation.

The WIT2410 offers 100 mW transmit power and exceptional sensitivity reception for up to three times the range of most wireless LAN products. Both FCC and ETSI compliant, it supports license-free spread spectrum operation virtually anywhere in the world.

Seamless roaming will be achievable with the forthcoming release of the SNAP2410 network access point, a companion base station that provides 10BaseT Ethernet connectivity and supports up to 62 wireless modems. Seamless roaming will allow the WIT2410 to move freely within multiple access point environments, without having to resynchronize with each access point to maintain communications.

FHSS wireless radio modems from Cirronet™ are configurable and adjustable through easy-to-use, menu-driven software. In addition, an RS-232 style asynchronous interface ensures integration with almost any application. The WIT2410 can be used in a range of industrial and commercial applications, including remote monitoring & control systems and portable data terminals for warehousing/inventory management, point-of-sale and order entry.
