Wireless Infrastructure Baseband
Texas Instruments announces a 3 GHz-performing, multi-core wireless infrastructure baseband product designed to address current and future market requirements within GSM, TD-SCDMA and WiMAX. With three cores running at 1 GHz each, the TCI6487 is a flexible, scaleable processor designed to support multiple form factors. The TCI6487 enables low-cost GSM designs, supporting up to 10 EDGE-enabled carriers with a single chip. For TD-SCDMA, the "baseband on a chip" supports three carriers and 69 users per device. And for WiMAX applications, the TCI6487 supports a complete 10 MHz, 2-antenna, 3-sector solution. Built on TI’s advanced 65 nm process node, the TCI6487 doubles the transistor density of 90 nm designs while cutting the size in half and boosting transistor performance by up to 40%.
