High-Current Inductors

Vishay announces that it has extended the IHLP family of low-profile, high-current inductors with a device that offers low DCR/H in a compact 0.402 inches× 0.452 inches [10.2 × 11.5 mm] package with a low 0.157 inches [4.0 mm] height profile. With DCR values down to 0.65 mΩ at 0.19 H, the Vishay Dale IHLP-4040DZ-05 is a high-performance, space- and power-saving solution for DC/DC converter applications in end products including next-generation mobile devices; notebooks, desktop computers, and servers; low-profile, high-current power supplies and point of load (POL) converters; distributed power systems; and field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). This inductor handles high transient current spikes without saturation and operates over a frequency range up to 5 MHz. Saturation current and typical DCR values for the inductor range from 40 A to 60 A and from 1.55 mΩ to 0.65 mΩ, respectively, over an inductance range of 0.56 to 0.19 H. Inductance tolerance for the device is 20%. The RoHS-compliant IHLP-4040DZ-05 is rated for an operating temperature range of – 55° C to +125° C. It features a 100% lead (Pb)-free, shielded, composite construction that reduces buzz noise.
