SiGe Semiconductor's SE2566U WiFi RF front-end solution incorporates 2 fully-matched power amplifiers on a single die. The 3 × 3-mm device integrates harmonic filters, input and output matching circuitry and power detectors for each transmit stream. The product includes an integrated receive path situated between the 2 transmit paths to offer layout flexibility for 2-transmit by 2-receive (2x2) or 2x3 architectures. The unit has harmonic contribution of -50 dBm/MHz and support for MIMO capability for 802.11n implementations. A temperature-compensated, load-insensitive transmit power detector offering 20 dB of dynamic range is included. A reference voltage generator allows 1.8-V CMOS digital enable control directly from the baseband, and eliminates the need for analog bias controls while drawing <1 µA.
