Signal Generator Exhibits Short Frequency- and Level-Setting Times

Rohde & Schwarz’s R&S SMC100A 1/2 × 19”, 2 HU signal generator shows frequency- and level-setting times of <5 ms from 9 kHz to 1.1 GHz or 3.2 GHz. The instrument integrates Integrating AM/FM/fM and pulse modulation. The unit displays a typical single-sideband phase noise of -111 dBc (f = 1 GHz) at 20 kHz offset in the 1-Hz measurement bandwidth, typical broadband noise of -148 dBc, typical output power of >17 dBm, and level accuracy of <0.9 dB. The device covers applications in the 2.54 GHz ISM band and EMC requirements for service applications, field use and university labs, while including a calibration interval of 3 years, a built-in self-test for error diagnostics, and the availability of precalibrated replacement modules.
