Integrated Measurement System

Rohde & Schwarz has released a measurement system for WiMAX applications that allows the user to generate and analyze signals with a bandwidth of up to 28 MHz. The measurements are made in accordance with the 802.16-2004 (OFDM) WiMAX standard, and emerging WiMAX standards such as 802.16-2004 (OFDMA) and 802.11e can be accommodated as well. The unit consists of the R&S SMU200A vector signal generator and the R&S FSQ signal analyzer for developing and certifying the new technology. Only a few operating steps are necessary for the R&S SMU200A to generate signals for OFDM receiver tests in accordance with IEEE 802.16-2004. In addition to predefined test signals, the generator can create and output any other signal scenario as well. The R&S SMU200A offers the basis for generating modern communications signals such as WiMAX (R&S SMU-K49 software option). The two-path version of the vector signal generator also generates OFDM-modulated interfering signals so adjacent-channel leakage ratio (ACLR) can be determined with a single instrument.
