The R&S SM300 is a vector signal generator that covers 9 kHz to 3 GHz. The instrument covers frequency bands including WLAN, Bluetooth and EMC measurements. The instrument is able to generate digital signals as are required for mobile radio. The signal generator provides frequency and level sweep, a wide variety of analog modulation modes and high spectral purity. The internal LF generator (20 Hz to 80 kHz) and the wide range of analog modulation modes uch as AM, FM, PM make the R&S SM300 a universal signal source. The built-in squarewave generator and pulse modulator can generate bursts with a minimum duration of 100 microsec. The rise time of the pulse modulator of less than 500 ns permits bursts of a few microseconds if an external pulse generator is used. The inherent phase error for GSM signals, is typically 1.2°. The generator has a low level uncertainty of < 1 dB up to output levels of – 120 dBm. The setting time until the signal is available at the output is less than 10 ms.
