LNA Combines Low Power, High Gain Performance for Mobile Wi-Fi Applications

At 5.8 GHz, NEC's low noise NESG4030M14 HBT delivers 11 dB of gain at a low 2 V/6 mA bias, making it appropriate for battery-powered products. Fabricated using NEC's latest 140 GHz fMAX UHS4 SiGe:C process, the NESG4030M14 also offers 80 V (MM) of onboard ESD protection. Although not usually found in front-end LNA devices like the NESG4030M14, this protection is critical to the safe and reliable operation of mobile Wi-Fi products. Typical specifications at 2 V, 6 mA, 5.8 GHz include a low noise of 1.1 dB; high associated gain of 11 dB; and good linearity P1dB of 9 dBm. The NESG4030M14 is housed in NEC's miniature, RoHS-compliant M14 package and measures 1 × 1.2 × 0.5 mm.
