Bluetooth Power Amplifier

Bluetooth designers challenged with miniaturizing their designs will be interested in NEC's new GaAs HBT PA (power amplifier). The UPG2301TQ is housed in a miniature 10-pin plastic 2.4 × 2.55 mm package that features a low 0.6 mm (max.) profile. With 23 dBm output power it meets the demands of Class 1 Bluetooth applications. Its 2.4 to 2.5 GHz operation means it can also serve as a driver amplifier in WLAN and ISM band systems. Key specifications include: operating frequency 2.4 to 2.5 GHz; single supply voltage 3.3 V typical; output power+23 dBm typical; power gain     23 dB typical; efficiency 50% typical. Manufactured using NEC's InGaP HBT process, an adjustable power control feature allows the designer to implement AGC, while a shut-down feature helps to conserve power.
