California Micro Devices announced the CM1218 and CM1219, low capacitance families of Zener diode arrays for electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. The CM1219 features a low input capacitance of 4pF and protects ESD strikes up to ± 8 kV contact discharge, while the CM1218 with a low 7pF input capacitance provides ESD protection at ± 15 kV contact discharge. The low capacitance of these devices makes them suited for higher speed I/O ports such as video ports on PCs and digital consumer electronics, and in I/O data ports on wireless handsets. The use of Zener diodes eliminates the need for routing a positive voltage rail to the ESD protection device, required for dual rail clamp ESD devices. The CM1218 and CM1219 are offered in standard SOT23 and SC70 packages. The CM1218 and CM1219 are also offered in a 5 lead SOT553 and 6 lead SOT563 for the 4 channel and 5 channel versions respectively.
