Surge Suppression Devices Protect Sensitive High Data Rate Equipment

Lower capacitance Expanded range Bi-directional protection

Tyco Electronics has added new devices to its Raychem™ brand SiBar™ thyristor series. These new bi-directional transient voltage surge suppressors include an expanded range of available voltages, and lower capacitance to help protect high-speed ADSL/VDSL modems, Ethernet and Power-over-Ethernet and other high data rate communications equipment from damage from overvoltage events. Compliant with major standards such as GR-1089 Core, ITU K.20/K.21, IEC61000-4-5, FCC part 68, and UL60950, the SiBar thyristors provide fast, bi-directional protection in industry standard surge current families of 50 A, 80 A and 100 A (10/1000 µs). Key device parameters include voltage ranges from 6 to 400V, capacitance values as low as 12 pF, maximum leakage current of only 2 µA and a minimum hold current of 150 mA.
