Micrel Inc. announces the launch of its MIC23250 high efficient, dual 400 mA 4 MHz PWM synchronous buck step-down converter that is housed in a small 2 mm × 2 mm, 10 lead MLF package. The device is suitable for portable applications where low output ripple and small size are important. The converter uses a proprietary switching method called ‘Hyper Light Load’ that achieves a fast transient response while using small output capacitors. Applications are in low-voltage microprocessor cores and peripheral devices for mobile handsets, GPS, PDAs and portable media players. The converter integrates two synchronous rectified DC-to-DC converters, eliminating the need for external MOSFETs.
