High-Side Load Switches

Micrel Inc. launches its MIC94070/1/2/3 series of high-side load switches that are designed for a variety of mass-market handheld battery-powered consumer devices including cell phones, digital cameras and personal entertainment consoles. The series features a typical RDSON of 120 mΩ, and the devices operate with inputs ranging from 1.7 V to 5.5 V. Each IC can be driven by a 1.5 V of logic. Battery time is extended in portable applications due to the low operating current of 2 μA and shutdown current of less than 1 μA. The MIC94070 and MIC94071 have rapid turn-on, while the MIC94072 and MIC94073 provide a slew rate-controlled soft-start turn-on of 800 μs (typical) that prevents in-rush current. The series is housed in 4-pin 1.2 mm × 1.6 mm MLF and Teeny SC-70-6 packages.
