ZiLOG announced the Crimzon ZLR32300 infra-red (IR) ROM microcontroller (MCU) family. The are software compatible with ZiLOG's current Crimzon family of OTP IR microcontrollers. The ZLR32300 targets markets such as IR remote controls and wireless keyboards. Its low power consumption (6 mW is typical) also makes the ZLR32300 suitable for use in consumer handheld devices, extending the battery life of these devices. The devices offer a choice of 8, 16, 24 or 32 KB of ROM memory, a 2.0 to 3.6 V operating range, and come in 20-, 28-, 40-, and 48-pin and SOIC, SSOP, and PDIP flavors.
