Aeroflex announces software version 1.5 for the 3900 series digital radio test set to expand the range of tests offered by this platform into new markets. Each discrete instrument within the 3900 series offers features, performance and capabilities that were previously found only in dedicated stand-alone instruments. The initial release of the 3900 provided a replacement for Aeroflex’s model 2968 radio test set, a TETRA mobile and base station tester. With this latest release, the 3900 series now also replaces the Aeroflex 2965 full-featured radio test set. New features found in the release include a remote language interpreter that allows users an upgrade path from obsolete Agilent 8920s. This interpreter currently provides 80% compatibility with existing GPIB commands for the 8920. The 3900 series provides a 15% improvement in GPIB test speeds over the 8920. Additional tests include signal to noise and transmitter hum and noise measurements. The series now supports the Aeroflex IQCreator software and adds the ability to generate single or multiple carriers with user-defined digital or analog modulation types unique to each carrier.
