Variable Switching DC Power Supplies

IFR Systems announced a new line of variable-switching regulated DC power supplies. The Kikusui PAM Series has eight models in 2 kW and 4 kW versions. The series offers users a wide range of large-capacity power devices to limit temperature rise, minimize temperature dependence and improve reliability. With features such as external analog control functions, analog read-back functions, a three-point memory function that allows users to pre-store output settings (voltage and current), a unique lock-out feature for manufacturing use, master-slave parallel operation, and better voltage ranges for margin testing, the PAM Series offers features normally only available in higher-priced units.

The PAM Series power supplies offer a factory-option twisted-pair TP-BUS digital communication function. The power supplies can be configured for a power supply system of up to 434 channels in combination with power supply controllers in the Kikusui PIA-4800 Series. The TP-BUS allows a single power supply controller (such as the Kikusui PIA-4830) to control up to 31 PAM Series power supplies. It also allows a control signal cable to be laid over a distance of 200 meters. For those who require GPIB, it can be installed as a factory option.
