Hybricon Corporation and Emerson Network Power Lead Effort to Ruggedize the MicroTCA™ Standard
Hybricon Corporation and Emerson Network Power announce that they are leading the effort to ruggedize the MicroTCA standard, including holding leadership
positions on the newest PICMG Rugged MicroTCA.2 subcommittee. This subcommittee is comprised of members from dozens of PICMG member companies and is focused on
addressing the dynamic and challenging rugged environments that are critical for a number of edge applications in the military market.
With Hybricon’s Michael Palis as chair and Bob Sullivan as secretary, plus Emerson Network Power’s Stuart Jamieson as draft editor, the new PICMG Rugged
MicroTCA.2 subcommittee will address specific environmental requirements such as shock and vibration, based on ANSI/VITA 47, for both air-cooled and
conduction-cooled applications. The subcommittee also will direct attention to higher levels of environmental stresses as a follow-on to the PICMG Rugged
MicroTCA.1 effort. PICMG Rugged MicroTCA.1 is now nearing completion with a rugged air cooled version of MicroTCA, aimed at rugged commercial and industrial
applications requiring a higher level of shock and vibration and/or extended temperature operation.
Hybricon and the Embedded Computing business of Emerson Network Power will showcase ruggedized MicroTCA solutions at the upcoming MicroTCA Summit from May 28 – 30 in Chantilly, VA.
