Nova Engineering announces a new feature for its NovaRoam® Mobile Router product line, called Uni-directional Link Detection and Avoidance (ULDA). NovaRoam Mobile Routers offer long-range, high-speed, secure mobile data communications for public safety, military and remote monitoring and control applications in countries across the globe. NovaRoam incorporates advanced mobile ad hoc networking — otherwise referred to as mesh networking — technology to facilitate adaptable wireless data communications in these demanding environments. The ULDA feature is the direct result of changes to Nova’s implementation of the AODV mobile ad hoc routing algorithm. With ULDA, the NovaRoam automatically discovers uni-directional link conditions prior to establishing a new route. Once bad routes are detected, they are designated accordingly and avoided by the NovaRoam so it can continue to search for a bi-directional link.
