AVX announces SpiCAP version 3.0, an online engineering tool that generates the frequency response and characterizes AVX ceramic chip capacitors based on user inputs. The Windows-based software provides parameters required for SPICE-based computer modeling and circuit simulations of MLCCs including high capacitance X5R as well as low inductance varieties. SpiCAP 3.0 is compatible with Windows 95 or higher. The SpiCAP 3.0 software displays the latest data for equivalent series resistance (ESR), equivalent series inductance (ESL) and self-resonant frequency. SpiCap 3.0 is suited for the design of output and input filters for switch mode power supplies, bulk and local decoupling and bypass capacitors, as well as wireless applications.
