Laird Technologies, Inc. introduces its Model WLM400 802.11 wireless LAN module for streaming video and high data rate applications. It overcomes the compromises where a choice has to be made between data throughput that requires a host processor or the simplicity of a module with embedded drivers and TCP/IP stack, but have a low throughput. This module uses an ARM9 application processor to provide a streaming channel that can deliver in excess of 15 Mbps of real data throughput with a 54-Mbps 802.11g link with minimal power consumption. It is suitable for all wireless video streaming applications. Features include actual streaming data rates in excess of 15 Mbps, full embedded TCP/IP stack, support for 802.11b/g specification and low power operation.
