Anadigics' ARA2017 DOCSIS 3.0 amplifier employs Sigma Designs' SMP8634 media processor for deployment in existing cable TV systems. The 5 × 5 × 1 mm 28-pin QFN-packaged component delivers an upstream data rate of 120 Mbps and down stream data rate up to 160 Mbps while operating in a frequency range from 5 to 85 MHz. The amplifier provides support for DOCSIS 3.0-specified signal levels of 64 dBmV, 33 dB of RF gain and a digitally-controlled, multi-stage precision step attenuator yielding up to 58 dB of attenuation in 2 dB increments.
