RFID Chip Targets Logistics Applications

ceitec rfidCEITEC, a Brazilian company that develops and produces application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) today announced the final development phase of a new integrated circuit (IC) for multiple logistics applications. Targeted at radio frequency identification (RFID) markets, the chip enables cutting-edge item tagging for supply chain and manufacturing tracking. The CTC13000 is a versatile, passive RFID device with a broad spectrum of applications. The chip can be used by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for asset tracking from prototyping to final assembly, as well as inventory control and post-production. It can also be applied in end user applications such as airline baggage identification, grocery and medical assets.

Based on an 180nm process technology, the IC features electronic product codeEPC Class1 Gen2 compliance and utilizes amplitude shift keying (ASK) transmission technology with pulse interval encoding (PIE). The chip operates in the world RFID ultra-high frequency (UHF) band 860 - 960 MHz.  It features 1kb of internal memory (512b user memory) with a 10 year retention life. Bit rate is 40 kbps to 640 kbps.

According to CEITEC S.A. CEO, Cylon Gonçalves da Silva, this chip has a very wide application base and can be used in virtually any situation that requires goods tracking and accountability.

With the addition of this logistics chip, CEITEC S.A.’s portfolio of RFID ICs now has a low-frequency chip (do Boi V2 – CTC11002) ready for production and a high frequency solution under development.
