360 Provides Advanced Policy Controls for Wireless Usage

BLUE BELL, Pa. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Fiberlink Communications Corporation, the creator and developer of cloud-based Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solutions, today announced that the MaaS360 platform and Mobile Service now provide enterprises with advanced policy controls for wireless usage.

“This is a significant step forward for companies that are struggling to control wireless usage. They can now enforce corporate usage policies for mobile users through a controlled self-service platform.”

“The MaaS360 platform delivers advanced policy controls for monitoring, managing and enforcing growing wireless usage and associated costs in the enterprise,” said Brian Christini, product management, Mobile Service. “This is a significant step forward for companies that are struggling to control wireless usage. They can now enforce corporate usage policies for mobile users through a controlled self-service platform.”

In today’s wirelessly-enabled world, simply handing out data cards to keep users productive on the road is not enough. Companies must put controls in place to ensure user adherence to corporate policies and avoid thousands of dollars per month in roaming or overage charges that can be inadvertently incurred by employees. Moreover, as network providers move to usage-based pricing plans for mobile broadband and Wi-Fi, managing usage and the associated spend becomes a more daunting task.

The MaaS360 Mobile Service now makes it easier for corporate management to set usage policies for mobile broadband, for both in-network and roaming usage. It alerts users as they reach monthly thresholds and blocks connections from occurring once these thresholds have been met, helping prevent “bill shock.” Through this kind of communication, it enlists users in managing their own consumption.

Wi-Fi charges outside the U.S. can reach $25 per hour, yet mobile users often get connected and leave their laptops for hours, forgetting that they are connected to expensive Wi-Fi. Costs can accumulate quickly. MaaS360 alerts users to connections that have a defined period of inactivity, and it can shut those connections down if users are not there to respond.

Using MaaS360’s policy self service platform, with just a couple of clicks, IT and finance can easily set and distribute usage policy limits for end users. The MaaS360 management center gives enterprise IT managers and finance groups greater control over wireless usage and their associated costs, while making the end user more productive.
