World’s First Handset to Exploit the Power of .11n

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Ascom Wireless Solutions, the leading supplier of on-site wireless communications, today introduced a new generation of VoWiFi handsets at the annual HIMSS (The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) conference at the Georgia World Congress Center.

The new generation of VoWiFi handsets will be the first to feature the latest 802.11n networking standard. The new VoWiFi phone design is built upon Ascom’s long experience in offering state of the art ruggedized, purpose-built handsets for demanding environments along with wireless voice and message transmission systems and customized alarm and positioning applications.

The new handsets will provide customers with an improved easy-to-use user interface, maximized operating time, thanks to smart energy management and access to valuable services, including Ascom Centralized Management platform for easier device management.

“With our new i62 we will focus on customers in areas ranging from Hospitals, Elderly Care, Industry, Retail, Secure Establishments and Hotels which all see an increasing demand for wireless applications”, says Dennis Andersson, Vice President Sales at Ascom Wireless Solutions Division.
