The annual SMTA Boston educational program will be held May 4-6 at The Hynes Convention Center and feature full- and half-day Academy courses, special free events, and other co-located offerings.
The Academy Courses include Applying SPC and Six Sigma to the Surface Mount Manufacturing Line, Surface Mount Technology Fundamentals, Outsourcing Lead-free Assembly, Troubleshooting the SMT Assembly Process, Lead-free Rework, Implementing Lead-free Assembly at Your Facility, and Implementing the Pin in Paste Process.
Three special free events include a panel discussion on Americas Electronics Manufacturing and Assembly Initiative, which will cover the issues and potential solutions to the loss of The Americas Competitiveness to offshore competition. A second panel discussion on Surface Finishes: Issues Past, Present, and an Eye Towards Future, will examine issues such as Black Pad, Tin Whiskers, Electromigration, and Lead-free Technology. Lastly, a lecture on Advanced SMT: Fine Pitch Assembly will outline general guidelines and focus particularly on techniques that can be used to eliminate print errors due to stencil and board interactions.
Co-located offerings include an ASTE session, Signal Switching in Functional Test, and SMTA Certification for SMT Processes and SMT Systems. All events will be held in conjunction with NEPCON East, Electro, and Assembly East.
Visit the Academy page of the Education & Events section on smta.org for full details and secure registration. Contact SMTA director of education Kristin Stromberg for more information: 952-920-7682 or kristin@smta.org.
