Boosting Bluetooth to 250 Mb/s with Ultra-Wideband



After significant analysis of high-speed technologies, last year the Bluetooth SIG selected WiMedia-based ultra-wideband (UWB) for a new, fast wireless specification. Originally conceived as a short-range, low-power, low data rate cable replacement for audio headsets and keyboards, the new, high-speed Bluetooth opens up a world of opportunity to capture and share our lives through images and sound—such as printing high-res pictures directly from your phone to a printer while visiting grandma, or playing a video for friends on your own "youtube", your television. Although the final specification is expected in late 2008, product developers should prepare now for this new wireless protocol.
