Conterra Ultra Broadband Redirects Microwave Frequencies

Conterra Ultra Broadband introduces digital microwave networks as an affordable broadband solution for organizations without access to ‘last mile’ fiber. Non-urban school districts, multi-branch medical institutions and enterprises with outlying service delivery facilities are prime markets for Conterra’s point-to-point wireless networks.

Recent advances in digital technology have drastically reduced the complexity and cost of these systems and enabled Conterra to engineer, operate and support affordable, ultra-high speed wireless network connections. Using only Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licensed microwave radio links provides customers with carrier-grade service levels with performance attributes generally only associated with optical fiber deployments.

“Conterra’s microwave networks are designed to adhere to the strictest security levels, eliminate interference and reduce latency well beyond what has been available in non-licensed and non-standardized wireless solutions,” said Dennis Francis, executive vice president and chief operating and technology officer of Conterra.

With scaleable bandwidth options from 10 Mb/s to 1 Gb/s, and a licensed wireless network that supports data, voice and video simultaneously in a converged environment, organizations can easily centralize network management, deploy video training, real time teleconferencing and distance learning across multiple facilities, implement Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems and share business resources.

At cost points that are competitive with optical fiber based broadband technologies and Service Level Agreements that guarantee speed and reliability levels, Conterra has already succeeded in winning 92 school district contracts across the United States. These contracts represent more than 400 school sites and 400,000 students, teachers and administrators.
