Voltage Regulators
Torex Semiconductor launches the XB1117, a series of voltage regulators aimed at meeting the demands for low voltage stable power supplies. The series is a 1 A low dropout positive voltage regulator. It is available with 2.5, 3.3, and 5.0 V fixed outputs or with an adjustable output voltage set by external resistors. The series features a typical dropout voltage of 1.2 V and can produce 1A output current at this dropout voltage. The 5.0 V output regulator has a maximum input voltage of 7 V whereas the 2.5 and 3.3 V output regulators have a maximum input of 5 V. The regulators operate by comparing the output voltage to an internal reference voltage of 1.25 V. With the adjustable output regulator, external resistors provide a minimum
load current of 10mA and through variation in the resistance values, output
voltage is controlled. Stability is insured through a tantalum or aluminium
electrolytic capacitor.
