Power Management ICs

Maxim introduces the MAX8621Y/MAX8621Z power management integrated circuits (PMICs). The MAX8621Y/MAX8621Z consist of two high-performance 4 MHz step-down DC/DCs, four low-dropout linear regulators, a reset timer and an open-drain driver in a 16 mm2 TQFN package. The converter outputs are sequenced to ensure proper microprocessor startup and the LDOs have individual on/off control for flexibility. These devices can therefore directly replace discrete solutions without requiring software to be rewritten. The MAX8621Y/MAX8621Z provide different combinations of LDO output voltages. The synchronous step-down converters provide up to 92% efficiency and allow use of a one microhenrie inductor. The four LDOs provide low-noise 45 microvolts root-mean-square output and are pin-programmable to save space and maintain flexibility.
