M/A-COM announces an RoHS-compliant 6-bit serial controlled attenuator, the MAATSS0007. This device is in a lead-free 4 mm 20-lead PQFN, plastic surface mount package. Using M/A-COM’s MSAG (Multi-function Self Aligned Gate) MMIC process, the RF attenuators and E/D logic have been integrated onto a single substrate that provides a high performance GaAs attenuator. The device has monotonic performance from 50 MHz to 3 GHz. It has a total attenuation range of 34 dB with a typical step size of 0.5 dB. This attenuator operates on a single positive 5 V supply and a control voltage of 3 to 5 V.
