BCD Process

PolarFab introduces a BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) process that permits designers to fabricate analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits operating up to 60 V. The robust PBC3 process offers a solution for a range of power management and smart-power applications for consumer, automotive, and industrial markets such as motor drivers, power interface drivers, and power regulations circuits. The 1.5 micron process is optimized for a range of voltage nodes between 5 and 60 V. The process combines low voltage CMOS logic, bipolar control circuits, and DMOS transistors on a single chip, providing integrated, multi-functional chip designs. PBC3 features 60 V vertical DMOS transistors, as well as 20, 40, and 60 V lateral DMOS transistors, which allow the power sections of the chip to be optimized depending upon the voltage of the application. The PBC3 process provides a design environment including a Cadence process design kit (PDK), fully characterized device models, and a comprehensive design manual.
