Reader IC

EM Microelectronic introduces the EM4094, an analog front-end integrated circuit for 13.56 MHz RFID readers. This IC accommodates a wide range of microcontrollers, supports multiple communication protocols and is well-suited for handheld reader solutions. The EM4094 can be operated from 3.0 to 5.0 V supply voltage with output power up to 200 mW. It integrates an 848 kHz BPSK decoder, sparing the microcontroller from having to perform this demanding ISO14443 Type B specific operation. The EM4094 allows the reader manufacturer to select the microcontroller which best suits his processing and power requirements. Such a design contributes to a better flexibility and versatility of the IC, allowing it to be used in a wide range of reader systems with sub-carrier frequencies between 212 to 848 kHz. It covers the ISO14443 A and B, Sony FeliCa™ or ISO15693 standards and operates with NFC devices. In addition, the company introduces the EM4094 13.56MHz RFID Demonstration Reader, a reference design and development tool kit. The EM4094 RFID Demonstration Reader is compliant with the ISO14443 type A and B, Sony FeliCa and the ISO15693 standards supporting all mandatory commands.
