“Green Friendly” XO Operates on as Little as 0.8 V

NDK (Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd.) announces the availability of the world’s first environmentally friendly ultralow power-driven crystal clock oscillator (XO), the NZ2520SF. This compact, L= 2.5 x W= 2.0 x H= 0.9 mm, SMD XO operates on as little as 0.8 V which is 50% lower than comparable crystal clock oscillators.

When coupled with a 40% reduction in current draw the NZ2520SF delivers a whopping 70% reduction in power consumption. This load reduction will lead to extended battery life, and in the long term a decrease in battery size as well.

It is available in a frequency range of 1.5 to 50 MHz with a stability of ±50 ppm. The NZ2520SF has an operating temperature range of -40 to +85° and is in lead-free packaging which meets the requirements for re-flow profiling using lead-free solder and is RoHS compliant.

Applications include mobile devices such as multi-function mobile phones, silicon audio players, personal navigation devices, and notebook computers.
