Fairchild announces its PowerTrench® MOSFET process technology that yields low values for Miller Charge (Qgd), RDS(on), total gate charge (Qg), and improves gate-drain charge to gate-source charge (Qgd:Qgs) ratio. Two 30 V MOSFETs from Fairchild, the FDS6294 and FDS7288N3, exhibit the benefits of this improved fast-switching technology, especially when applied, respectively, to notebook computers and POL (Point of Load) converter designs. The The Miller Charge (Qgd) value of 3nC (typical) and the RDS(on) of 11.3mΩ maximum allows the FDS6294 to provide good performance in high-frequency, narrow duty cycle switching applications. The device is available in an SO-8 package. The FDS7288N3 has a Qgd:Qgs ratio (less than 1), and is packaged in a SO-8 FLMP (Flipchip in a Leaded Molded Package). This technology provides low junction-to-case thermal resistance, low electrical resistance, and low package inductance.
