MBS series multi-band phase-locked frequency synthesizers from EM RESEARCH are designed as replacements for phase-locked YIG oscillators (PLYOs), operating over the frequency range of 500 MHz to 8 GHz with single-component convenience. The series is suited for use as local oscillators in digital radio transceivers, UWB radar systems and as signal generators in test systems and other microwave instrumentation. Model MBS-8000 covers the frequency range of 500 to 8000 MHz with less than 1 millisecond switching speed. At an output frequency of 500 MHz, phase noise measures 𤩞 dBc/Hz at 100 KHz offset; at an output frequency of 8 GHz the device exhibits phase noise of 㫷 dBc/Hz at 100 KHz offset. The device is supplied with internal regulators and buffer amplifiers, and utilizes either an internal or customer-supplied external frequency reference. This product operates on +12 VDC, at 250 mA current (total power consumption <3 W).
