In previous generations of cell phones, when the design called for more data to be moved around, the solution was to add more data lines. Only a handful of data lines were sufficient at first, since there was only basic numeric data to be displayed and data rates were rather low. We all remember the old analog flip phones with their LED displays, you pushed the keypad and a digit appeared. They didn’t offer the color graphic displays or the digital cameras they have now, let alone camera and video functionality.
