DSCs Integrate 16-bit Audio DAC



Microchip Technology, Inc. unveils its 28-pin and 44-pin dsPIC 16-bit DSCs that incorporate a dual-channel, 100 ksps, 16-bit audio DAC module as well as 16 kB RAM (2 Kbytes of dual-port RAM) with 64 kB and 128 kB flash optional in the dsPIC33 model. Targeting embedded applications requiring audio functionality, features include two analog comparators, selectable 10-bit or 12-bit ADC and a real-time clock and calendar. All devices are available with temperature ratings from -40°C to +85°C or to +125°C. Serial peripherals include 2 UARTs, 2 SPIs, I2C and CAN2.0B. A PMP enables parallel connection to external memory or peripherals with pin-selection capability for layout efficiency. Access to software libraries is also available for added functionality such as speech compression for protocols such as G.711 (64 kbps), ADPCM G.726A (16-40 kbps) and SPEEX (8 kbps).
