Linear Technology's LT5581 RMS detector provides RF power measurements in portable and battery- powered wireless systems, cellular basestations, picocells and femtocells, fiber optic transmitters and instrumentation. The 3 × 2 mm 8-lead DFN-packaged unit offers exceptional linearity of >±1 dB across the entire 40 dB dynamic range while operating from 10 MHz to 6 GHz with a 1.40 mA supply current. The detector shows RF power readings to within ±0.20 dB, regardless of waveforms that have high crest-factor modulated content, multi-carrier or multitone, with accuracy of ±1dB over an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The chip presents power consumption of 1.40 mA at 3.30 V, rise time of 1 µs, fall time of 8 µs and typical shutdon current of 0.2 µA.
