Linear Technology Corporation announces the LT3750, a flyback controller designed to charge large capacitors to voltages as high as 1000 V. The LT3750 drives an external high current N-Channel MOSFET and can charge a 100 uF capacitor to 300 V in less than 300 ms making it suitable for applications such as professional photoflash systems, RF security, inventory control systems and specialized high-voltage power supplies. Its input voltage range of 3 to 24 V enables it to operate from a variety of power sources and its patented boundary-mode-control scheme minimizes transition losses and reduces transformer size. Packaged in a MSOP-10, it provides a compact high-voltage/current-capacitor charger solution.
